Want to know the key questions to ask a T-shirt supplier...and the answers you need to hear? Keep reading to find out!!
QUESTION 1 - SAMPLES: Do you send me a pre-production sample to make sure it's exactly what I want? And if so, what does that cost?
ANSWER 1: Most suppliers don't...or if they do, they charge additional for the service. We DO send you a pre-production sample, and we DO NOT charge extra for it. And we overnight it to you...so it's not languishing somewhere on a slow boat to/from China!
It's all part of our 100% guaranteed service!
If your supplier won't send you a proofing sample – and we mean a LIVE SAMPLE – or they want to charge you additional for that sample, run away...and call us!
QUESTION 2 - ARTWORK: What do you charge for set-up, film, screens, and conversion from low-res jpeg (or other format) artwork?
ANSWER 2: The sad truth is that most suppliers will nickel & dime & dollar you to death on "incidentals." These charges look small when considered one at a time, but the final bill can be a per-unit budget killer!
In our case, we charge a flat fee for these services...and if your artwork is already in vector format, then the conversion/prep is free! Before you commit to an order, get an in-writing statement of the hidden costs, potential add-on costs, and more!
QUESTION 3 - COLORS: Do you charge per color?
ANSWER 3: Most suppliers charge on a per-color basis...and the per-color charge can be as high as $1.50 per color per shirt! That adds up quickly...or, to be more precise, it adds down – as in taking down the reach of your budget!
What's more, typical T-shirt vendors charge additional not only for adding a color to your design but for the work involved in altering the order. It doesn't take long for a $5.00-per-shirt order, let's say, to inflate to almost $10.00 per shirt!
With our T-shirts, you get 6 colors at no additional charge. Plus, if your initial design called for 3 colors and you want to change it to 4, no problem...and no up charges for the add-on!
The bottom line here – as with so much else in ordering imprinted T-shirts – is that you must get all the dollar details explained and confirmed upfront...or you and your shirts will get taken to the cleaners!
QUESTION 4 - REORDERING: If I want to re-order the same design, do I have to again pay for set-up, film, and other charges?
ANSWER 4: You'd think that a re-order would be simple and economical, right? Think again! Re-order horror stories abound in our industry!!
Before you place your order, find out what a re-order would cost. Chances are you'll hear about various "small" additional charges for the re-order...and from our perspective, that's nonsense! After all, why charge a customer to repeat what's already been done?!?
If you re-order from us within 12 months of your initial order, you won't pay a penny in set-up charges, re-order fees, or any other "extortion" costs!
QUESTION 5 - RETURNS & REFUNDS: If for my shirts are printed incorrectly or I don't get them on the day I want them, what is your return/refund policy?
ANSWER 5: You want to get a 100% guarantee from your supplier. Anything less is...well, less – and that can cost you big time!
Here's our policy:
If for any reason you are not satisfied with our quality, our service, our product, or our on-time delivery, return your order. We will refund your entire purchase price... INCLUDING the cost of shipping to you and return shipping from you!!
It's that simple! And if you're considering an imprinted T-shirt source who won't match that guarantee, you're asking for an expensive problem! (O.K., our answer is blatant self-promotion. We admit it. But no one in our industry – NO ONE – offers the kind of guarantee we do!)
QUESTION 6 - MISTAKES: How many jobs did you print last year, and out of that number how many had some sort of a problem that was your fault?
ANSWER 6: No business is 100% accurate all the time. That's a given. But the higher the percent success rate, the better chance that your order will be fulfilled accurately, on time, and as quoted.
Look at eBay, for example. Which seller would you feel more confident in patronizing: one with a 92% favorable rating or one with a 98% rating? The 98%'er, right?
Well, before you choose a T-shirt supplier, find out what their "rating" is...and if they say it's 100%, either they've not printed many jobs or they're lying.
Over the past 7 years, we've achieved an honest (and provable!) 98% success rate – and that's been backed by our amazing 100% Satisfaction Guarantee (see Answer 5 above)!
QUESTION 7 - T-SHIRT QUALITY: How can I know that I'm getting the T-shirt quality I want?
ANSWER 7: There are many many types and "grades" of T-shirts – ranging from ultra-cheap ultra-lightweight 100% polyester 'promo' to 100% cotton heavy (e.g., Hanes Beefy-T). Too many T-shirt suppliers promote a "loss leader" that's ultra-inexpensive but, alas, turns out to be a short-waist shrink-prone 100% poly that's almost as flimsy and wearable and durable as tissue paper (our $3.95 ea. per 500 order T-shirts are 100% pre-shrunk cotton, by the way)!
Your first step is to demand a sample – a REAL sample that's at least the shirt you want if not the shirt imprinted with your graphic (see Answer 1 above).
You also want to look at the brand of shirt. We specialize in Anvil, Gilden, Fruit of the Loom, and Hanes – all good-quality shirts and fabrics. Our competitors? Hmmmmmm.
